ABOUT EDiS
We are proud to introduce the host of HIGH ON DEBATE 2013
"EDiS (Ewha Debating Society)"
Ewha Debating Society (EDiS) is one of the first English parliamentary debate societies to be established in Korea. Found in 2002 by Kerry Lee and Pia Kim, EDiS prides itself in not only being a pioneer of debate but also in its contribution to the promotion of debate within Korea and the performance of its individual members.
EDiS has proved its excellence not only in national tournaments, being the champion of KNC, the largest intervasity debate championship in Korea in both 2012 and 2011 but also in diverse international tournaments.
EDiS activities are not simply limited to debating in tournaments. In its commitment to sharing the debate experience with others, EDiS hosts High on Debate, an annual debate workshop and tournament for high school students, and sends accomplished EDiS debaters as lecturers all over the Northeast Asian region. EDiS also produced the most number of presidents representing KIDA, Korea Intervarsity Debate Association.
Ewha Debating Society (EDiS)는 2002년에 설립된 국내 최초의 영어 토론 동아리입니다.
EDiS는 다수의 국내 최대 규모 영어토론대회인 KNC 에서 2011년과 2012년 연속 챔피언을 하는 등 국내외 대회에서 꾸준히 수상하며 학교 위상을 드높여 왔습니다.
뿐만 아니라 EDiS 는 동북아시아 전역에서 열리는 디베잇 워크샵에 코치로서 참가하여 영어토론 문화를 아시아 전역에 확산시키는 데에도 이바지 해왔으며, 동시에 국내에서는 가장 오래된 고등학생 대상 영어토론대회인 HighOn Debate를 매년 개최해 한국의 고등학생들에게도 영어토론을 알리고자 힘써왔습니다. 또한 EDiS 는 한국 대학생 영어토론대회연합인 KIDA 에서 최다의 회장을 배출한 동아리이기도 합니다.
현재 EDiS는 International Debate Education Association (IDEA)에 의해 한국에서는 가장 높은 세계 랭킹 136위로 등록되어 세계적인 인정을 받고 있습니다.
